Allan - RTP, 2002
From St. Vincent and the Grenadines to Georgia Tech to Duke University, Allan's path to Extreme Blue was unique, just like his experience with the program
According to Allan, "Anytime you put techies and business people together, there's a chance for conflict. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well everyone worked together as a team to achieve one common goal."
Allan's team, which was based in the lab in Research Triangle Park, was tasked with adding a new feature to the IBM Director systems management program.
"It's great to look back on that experience and know all the hard work paid off," said Allan. "The feature we worked on, the Bladecenter Deployment Wizard, was permanently added to the software. Customers from around the world are now using the software my team helped improve, which is great."
Since his summer with Extreme Blue in 2002, Allan joined IBM as a full time employee. In his new position, he works closely with customers to define features for IBM systems management software.
"Looking back, the EB team was like a small replica of a fully functional team that you would find in IBM," said Allan. "That experience helped prepare me for my job at IBM."

| "I think it's
the exposure that you receive—that was the most amazing
part of my Extreme Blue experience. It's not only the exposure
I had to my mentors and their coworkers, but also the CEO
and other key individuals within IBM." |
